Steve Jobs announces iCloud at WWDC in SF (LIVE event completed)

...and that's all folks! No new iPhone 5 (hehehe). Steve's outta here! Good show, Apple! Lots to think about!

Surprise! Apparently you will be able to sync your entire music collection (even those NOT purchased through iTunes) with iCloud! Hmmmmmmmmmm, now how will THIS work? and Steve just announces the price—only $24.99 for 20,000 songs! Oh oh, Amazon.com! Better rethink your pricing. Maybe Google will be able to match since they ALWAYS make everything FREE!

And now more details on iCloud for music. Steve says, "This is the first time we've seen this in the music industry -- no charge for multiple downloads to different devices." Any purchases made in iTunes can be transferred (at no extra charge) to any of your Apple devices via iCloud! I like it! Steve says, "We're making it free, and we're very excited about it. So that's iCloud. It stores your content and pushes it to all of your devices, and it's integrated with all your apps." Leave it to Apple to make ALL of this work seamlessly together all linked by iCloud...oh yeah, and totally FREE! Still want to know how all this streaming is gonna affect data plan pricing on smartphones.

Now he's going to demo how iCloud will work for Photo Stream. I can't wait...get to the music, get to the music (LOL). So pardon the pun, but PICTURE this—you take a picture once on the iPhone and it goes directly to the cloud and pushes it back down to ALL other devices (e.g., iPad, Mac, iPod). No more fiddling around transferring photos back and forth between devices. I like THIS one a LOT! Oh okay, it's stored 30 days in the cloud...now THAT might be an issue, but it's still a freebie. Picture taken with an iPhone INSTANTLY appears on the iPad, as well. Cool iCloud magic!

Steve is demoing how to share Keynote document between iPhone and iPad using iCloud. Steve says, "The piece that we weren't finished with was how do we move those documents around to multiple devices, and Documents in the Cloud solves that problem for us."

Oh MY! THIS must be the surprise SHOCKER! iClouds is gonna be FREE! Yup FREE! Wow, if you bought an app on your iPhone, simply click on the iCloud button on your iPad to wirelessly download and install that same app on THAT device. Mmmmmmmm, very cool!

Steve's idea? Let's demote the PC and Mac to simply just another device (not the hub of your information life) and let's push our important information up into "the cloud." Now, this is just ME thinking out loud, but how will all this wireless streaming affect me and my limited smartphone data plans? Streaming ain't free, ya know! LOL! Gonna need a @me.com account if you wanna share data across all Apple devices—guess that makes sense.

Steve Jobs discusses the evolution of the computer over the last 10 years bringing us to mobile devices today...get ready for iCloud!

Oh, now THIS is interesting...new messaging service between iOS users!!! Wow! and it's WiFi OR 3G compatible. And here comes Steve Jobs!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Apple is cutting the PC cable! No more activation using a computer. Just take the iPhone right out of the box, press a button, and it's activated. AND you can sync iTunes to your device wirelessly! Nice, Apple! Hehehe, oh my, Apple LOVES to take swipes at Microsoft and Google Android (funny!).

Smart! There's now a Camera button on the Lockscreen! About time! Hmmmmmmmmmm, and draggable addresses—wonder how I'd use that?

Safari "Reminders" is getting a LOT of attention. Let's see how THIS one works.

Safari "Reading List" lets you read online stories later.

There's also a Newsstand feature in iOS 5. Hmmmmmmmmmmm, interesting! and now Scott is discussing tighter integration of Twitter in the iOS 5 mobile operating system. Jeez Android, I may (just may) need to rethink my not buying an iPhone 4 (or even iPhone 5)!!! This sure is looking nice, all with the easy-to-use Apple signature. They are masters of the consumer-focused user interface! Now, they're going to demo Safari, something I'm not AS interested in since I'm a dedicated Firefox PC user (hehehe). But I do use Safari (have to) on the iPad. Let's listen anyway...

All notifications are housed in ONE Notification Center now.

Now, onto iOS 5 with Scott Forstall. Wow, 25 million iPads sold—I knew it was a LOT, but this is INCREDIBLE!!! and $2.5 BILLION paid to app developers so far...I'm sure THAT caught the attention of those at this Worldwide Developers Conference at the Moscone Center! LOL

...and a very cool Favorites bar at the top! Lion will only be available via the Mac App Store—no more buying discs. Are you listening Microsoft? hehehe AND it's only gonna cost $29.99 to upgrade—are you listening Microsoft???? It'll be available in July...

Next up, a new version of Mail for OS X Lion! Nice!

Now demoing "AirDrop" with its peer-to-peer sharing.

Gonna have to try this auto-save feature with my Dad—wondering if he might get confused by all the different versions of the same document (grin). Sounds useful, though.

Getting new software applications from lots of different retailers delivered right to your Mac—cool! Wow, I didn't know that the Mac App Store is now the No. 1 channel for buying PC software, even bigger than Best Buy! Not surprised, though! And NOW, the Mac App Store is built right into OS X Lion—damn, Apple is so smart! Everything is fully-connected! And, Lion comes with "auto-save!"

Pretty nifty demo of PhotoBooth. This like it could be a lot of fun to use, huH?

Now demoing OS X Lion in action!

Steve talking about OS X Lion, iOS 5, and something for "the cloud." Sounds like iCloud to me!

Steve Jobs, stage left! ;-)

Even the President doesn't get THIS kinda coverage! hehehe

Looks like it's getting kinda crowded at the Moscone Center in San Francisco in anticipation of Steve Jobs' keynote address to the Worldwide Developers Conference. Three minutes to showtime!

Let's see, we have Obama sitting with Steve Jobs to his left and Mark Zuckerberg to his right (that's about $100 billion right THERE). Also apparently in the house, Google exec Eric Schmidt, Yahoo!'s Carol Bartz, Oracle's Larry Ellison, and Twitter's Dick Costolo. This is like a "nerd's" dream come true, huh? LOL

Steve Jobs: 'You won't be disappointed' by Apple keynote

Steve Jobs: 'You won't be disappointed' by Apple keynote - Yahoo! News — More of Steve Jobs' trademarked one-line e-mail messages have surfaced, with the capricious CEO promising a concerned iPhone user that "you won't be disappointed" by his upcoming WWDC keynote — which, by the way, has just been confirmed for June 7, the first day of Apple's annual developers confab.

For the past two years, Apple's
Worldwide Developer Conference has served as the launching pad for the
latest iPhones, and we've known for weeks that the annual event would be held from June 7 to June 11. But Apple hadn't officially disclosed the exact day and time of the keynote address — until now . Mark your calendars for 10 a.m. Pacific time June 7, and yes, Jobs will be delivering the keynote. Just to be clear: Apple hasn't confirmed that it'll have the next, already well-leaked iPhone on display that day, but c'mon ... it's a pretty safe bet. As if to stoke excitement, Jobs has apparently been replying to customer e-mails again. MacRumors reports that Jobs fired off a message to a user chiding Google and the (red-hot) Android mobile platform, with the customer asking Jobs whether he has "some good WWDC announcements to blow [Google] out of the water." Jobs' characteristically curt reply: "You won't be disappointed."

Adobe 'shifting focus' from Apple

Adobe 'shifting focus' from Apple | Apple - CNET News: "In response to Apple CEO Steve Jobs' explanation on why his company refuses to let Adobe Systems' Flash Player on his company's iPhone, Adobe's chief technology officer sounded an upbeat tone and said the company was moving on without Apple.

'We feel confident that were Apple and Adobe to work together as we are with a number of other partners, we could provide a terrific experience with Flash on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch,' Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch wrote in a company blog post late Thursday. 'However, as we posted last week, given the legal terms Apple has imposed on developers, we have already decided to shift our focus away from Apple devices for both Flash Player and AIR.'

Lynch also said made a point of highlighting Adobe's work on an iPhone competitor.

'We look forward to delivering Flash Player 10.1 for Android smartphones as a public preview at Google I/O in May, and then a general release in June,' he said.

Earlier Thursday, Apple published a rare open letter from Jobs that criticized Flash for being proprietary, sapping battery power, not supporting multitouch interfaces, posing security risks, and being unstable. 'Flash is the No. 1 reason Macs crash,' Jobs said.

Flash Player, a programming foundation that's ubiquitous on personal computers, is widely used for tasks such as online games, photo editors, and video streaming, and with the upcoming version 10.1, Adobe is trying anew to bring Flash to mobile devices.

The software is designed to work on phones using RIM's BlackBerry OS, Microsoft's Windows Phone 7, Palm's WebOS, Nokia's Symbian, and Google's Android. But Adobe has been increasingly vocal about its dissatisfaction with the Apple situation, especially after Apple barred a new tool from Adobe that would let Flash developers turn their programs into native iPhone applications."

Jon Stewart to Steve Jobs: 'Chill, baby'

Jon Stewart to Steve Jobs: 'Chill, baby' - Apple 2.0 - Fortune Brainstorm Tech: "You know a story has turned a corner when Jon Stewart takes it on, as he did Wednesday night with the case of the lost iPhone prototype.

The satirical host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show devotes nearly nine minutes to the saga. He gets a few facts wrong and glosses over the possibility that crimes were committed, but by the end it's abundantly clear that he — and his audience — think Apple (AAPL) has gone too far.

“Apple, you guys were the rebels, man, the underdogs,' he says at one point. 'People believed in you. But now, are you becoming The Man? Remember back in 1984, you had those awesome ads about overthrowing Big Brother? Look in the mirror, man!”

Stewart is one of America's most influential opinion makers, who can turn his young audience — a key demographic — against a politician, a celebrity or a product with a few well-honed barbs. The targets of the kind of treatment he gave Apple and Steve Jobs Wednesday night may never quite recover. Just ask John McCain, Jim Cramer, Glenn Beck or the hosts of the now defunct CNN Crossfire."

Apple announces ‘iPad’ touchscreen tablet

Apple announces ‘iPad’ touchscreen tablet - Tech and gadgets- msnbc.com: "After months of rampant speculation, Apple Wednesday announced a touchscreen tablet computer, the 'iPad' for consumers who want to take their movies, TV shows, music, games and reading with them, be it around the house or on the go. Pricing starts at $499, and it should be available in 60 to 90 days.

'We want to kick off 2010 with a truly revolutionary and magical product,' CEO Steve Jobs told a packed audience at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco on Wednesday.

The wireless device can be used with Wi-Fi, as well as run on AT&T's 3G, or third-generation, wireless network. AT&T has been the exclusive carrier of the iPhone in the United States since its release in 2007, and some were hoping that Apple's new tablet would also work with other carriers' networks, including Verizon Wireless.

The iPad will cost $499 for a 16-gigabyte model, $599 for a 32 GB version and $699 for a 64-gigabyte model with Wi-Fi only, and will be available in 60 days. It will cost an additional $130 for units that also can use 3G, which should be out in 90 days, making the most expensive model $829. Jobs said AT&T will charge $29.99 a month for 'unlimited use' and $14.99 a month for up to 250 megabytes. There will be no contract with AT&T required for the plans, he said."

Check Expectations for Apple's Tablet at the Door

By Arik Hesseldahl / Yahoo! Finance (CLICK to read more)

"If its engineers hew to recent history, Apple's tablet computer may look nothing like what the prognosticators foresee.

The speculative madness surrounding Apple's rumored tablet computer has finally reached its frothy peak.

Tech's chattering classes are obsessed with the unconfirmed product, which Apple (AAPL) may announce at an event in January, or February, or March, depending on which set of reports you adhere to. Apple, not surprisingly, is mum.

The hunger for information—and misguided speculation—reminds me of the mistaken prognosticating about the iPhone before its introduction three years ago. It may be time to step back and realize that Apple may uncork a product so surprising that the company again leaves the tech industry scrambling to catch up to its products' smooth operation and sleek design.

Documented facts about the tablet are few. This much we do know: In November 2008, Apple took control of the trademark name TabletMac from a company called Axiotron, which converts MacBook laptops into tablet computers running Apple's Mac OS X."
